Random Extras

In here are just the random things that didn't make the gallery, either because they weren't good enough (but not bad enough for the Horrible, Horrible Mistakes section) or they were alternative versions of the final cut, and what have you.

This sketch was done a long time ago, and the pencil version is in the Sailor Moon gallery. I think at one point I was playing around with using this in a pink themed layout, but that never really got off the ground.
I drew this when I was drawing layout images for the first version of Crimson Sky Creations. After I was done, I realized I'd rather be drawn as Sailor Mars. One day, when I was first learning CGing, I decided to play around with this image, and added the highlights.
This is the first princess dress I designed for Hime-chan, it's supposed to be white with yellow trim, but she didn't seem thrilled with it, so it got put on the back burner, which is why I designed the one that is in MoonKitties. The Farah Fawcett hair thing going on here is kind of nift, though.
This is the color version of the Calvin Klein-esque pic I did of Seiya as part of a pic exchange.

Woo! My attempt at being sexy! I'm still too scared to attempt drawing Terry, but I can draw myself in his clothes...well...some of them, anyway! ^.~
Her face looks pretty close to how I imagine it, and the shading isn't bad. So why is it in here? Simple. It's so goddamn small...
I actually did this so I could print it out and put it up somewhere, I think it's really neat!
I had a great idea for a head shot of a guy who looked like my friend Vlad, so I started sketching it, and while the drawing itself looks okay, it doesn't look much like Vlad, so I gave up.

After watching Alex's attempt to draw Vlad, I tried again. This came out better than my first one, or Alex's for that matter, but I've given up. Vlad is impossible to draw.
Just testing my prismas to see if my limited color selection allows me to draw Sailor Venus. It does, but I had forgotten my pens that day, so I couldn't ink the lines, so I don't particularly like the way this came out. Also, it was a quick sketch.
Well, much like my attempt at drawing Vlad, when I tried to draw Alex, I got a very good looking anime guy that looked nothing like Alex. Sigh. Oh, and the halo was his idea.
So, the story behind this picture is I wanted a stained glass background. I found this wonderful autumn landscape from The Met, and as I was trying to get it centered behind Utena, accidentally shrunk her so she looked like she was part of the window. I liked it so much, I decided to continue on that path. Putting her "in" the window, broken up the panes, was surprisingly easy. I really love how this came out. (But decided to use the larger image of her as the "main" image, since the shading came out so well.)

See, this is what I had to work with originally. It's all right, a bit plain, but nowhere near as good as the finished result that made it into Other Series - Utena.
The original scan of "The Lesson". I wanted to save it because the re-edit changed everything from the scenery outside the window to the tiles the ladies were walking on.

For the first button, Galleries, for my 2012 layout, I chose Sailor Mars, both because I had a rainbow theme in mind for the buttons from left to right, and she is the most "red" character I know, but also because she's the character I most identify with in my biggest fandom. I don't remember which image I based this off if, but if you type "Patrick Nagel" into Google Image Search you'll probably find it.
For the second button, Storage, I chose Chun Li, both because she's the second most important character to me in my "Holy Trinity" of female characters that have inspired me, but also because I felt the pale yellow background would contrast nicely with her blue qipao. I don't remember which image I based this off if, but if you type "Patrick Nagel" into Google Image Search you'll probably find it.

For my third button, Site Stuff, I chose Rogue, not only because she's the third character in my "Holy Trinity" of inspirational female characters, but also because I thought she'd be perfect for the green in my rainbow-themed buttons. I don't remember which image I based this off if, but if you type "Patrick Nagel" into Google Image Search you'll probably find it.
I'm pretty sure I only chose Umi for my fourth button, Storage, because she was the best "blue" character I could think of (and I've cosplayed her), but after I was done with this drawing I realized that somehow her face had turned out looking an awful lot like mine. I don't remember which image I based this off if, but if you type "Patrick Nagel" into Google Image Search you'll probably find it.
I think the main reason I chose Rainbow Brite for my fifth button, Personal, because I had not yet represented my love for '80s cartoons on the main page, and while Rainbow Brite could go with any background color, purple would not have gone with every character I wanted to use (with the possible exception of Sailor Mars, but red was the more obvious choice.) I don't remember which image I based this off if, but if you type "Patrick Nagel" into Google Image Search you'll probably find it.
I chose Utena for my sixth button, Sisters, because she was the most "pink" character to come to mind (except for Chibiusa, but I had already represented my love for Sailor Moon with my Galleries button) but also because Utena has become my second favorite character to cosplay. I don't remember which image I based this off if, but if you type "Patrick Nagel" into Google Image Search you'll probably find it.
