Requests - Others' Original Characters

People love to see how they or their original characters look in all sorts of different artists' styles. I'm happy to oblige!

My friend Rich asked me to draw him, and I wanted to see what he'd look like in a really nice suit.
My first pic exchange with a new artist!
Another gift for a friend. Fernando is strengthened by the powers of the dragon.
My friend's original My Little Pony. I wanted to draw her angelic side...

...and her devil side. You know, I really thought she'd like it a bit more. I think the fishnets threw her a bit, though.
This was the first time I learned that other people drew the same type of characters, which I had only ever been able to describe as "sphinx-like", and that it had a name, "furry art." I was doing furry art LONG before it had a name, believe you me!
Guh...her pose came out a little weird, but I adore the uniform that Pretty Jedi designed!
I like the colors in this one, they're very cooling.

My father really liked this one, he said it was "contest quality", I believe were his exact words. Hime-chan asked me to draw this because I'm pretty good at designing dresses.
I *really* should've drawn his coat flapping in the wind, as Hime-chan pointed out later. Oh well. It's still a pretty cool pic.
My first really ambitious attempt at CGing. With mixed results. It's a rather "busy" picture, isn't it?
This is actually a really pretty pic, but I didn't know at the time that Ariana was supposed to have black eyes! Gomen, Hime-chan, gomen, Ariana-san! As of October 2007, it has been rescanned and edited.

This character struck me as really cool, I love her tan. I hope I did her justice. Women who have tans look good in white linen...
I love this character's hair, I hope the subtle changes in color were picked up in scanning.
Nyaw! Cute lil bunny girl! I don't remember why I left this in black and white.
I tried a bit more shading...it's funny, eMouse told me when she got this that she had drawn Hanako in a very similar outfit to this and then lost it. Perhaps my psychic powers at work again?

I tried very hard to remember the fencing lessons I had gotten from Eugene to get Adam in the right position. With mixed results.
I love the way the coloring on her hair came out. I did this pic from a description in an e-mail, and Moonbug said the hair was pretty dead on. ^.^
The wings on JoStar reminded me of Morrigan from Darkstalkers, so I drew her in a very sexy pose and outfit.
Man, I wish I were as talented as my visions are. I saw this guy in a very edgy, dark, and rainy type of piece. That didn't quite come through, but I'm not unhappy with this pic.

I was a little confused by the reference pic I had for this character, that's why the tail--if that's indeed what it is in the back--looks so stiff.
More furry art! It's so much fun to draw, and it's really what I did well before I knew anime existed.
Okay the only reason I didn't color this one is because I didn't know what colors to use! Perhaps in the future I will come back to it. It's pretty cute.
If you look in my Guest Art gallery, you'll see how amazing Ashura is. No, really. I was SO afraid to draw for her! I took hours on this picture, just for this black and white pencil drawing! It came out okay, though, and she really seemed to like it! It was definitely my lucky day.

More playing with CGing, this isn't so bad. I like the carefree pose of this pic.
Darn, she looks more Spanish than Chinese! Other than that, though, I do like this.
I had in mind a sort of entrance page pose for this pic, a sort of "Welcome to" type of thing. The baby panda is SO cute!
This is one of the better dresses I've done in a while. Black and blue go so well together, both in her hair and in her dress.

Wow...psychadelic, man. I don't know what posessed me to put her in such an electric dress, but it goes well with the pose and the background, or they go well with the dress. Either way.
I liked the hair color of this character a lot, I hope the all gray outfit I put on her suits it well. The pose is kind of cute, too.
This is the first CG I did that I am really proud of. The shirt is actually a few shades lighter than the background, but apparently only my computer can pick that up, sadly. Not to mention the shading I did on the shirt itself.
This is just a cute pic, I like the pose, I like the clothes, it reminds me of summer.

I tried to make Ky a bit more feminine than she had been in the pictures I had seen, but without making her so feminine that it was out of character for her. What do you think?
A picture I did as a gift for Joe of a character he designed. Considering I had no reference pic and was going off of an e-mail, this came out better than I expected.
My favorite CG I have ever done. I've gotten so many compliments on her eyes! (Although the first time I did them, they were blue, and then I found out they were supposed to be green, so I retouched them in Paintshop Pro. No big deal!)
I really like her outfit, and the way her hair flows. Why can't I sew as well as I design?

Another outfit I really like and wish I owned...surprisingly, the pink of her hair and the red in her skirt doesn't seem to clash. I always liked the way pink and black went together, too.
Everybody hula! This is the catgirl from the splash page of Catgirl Island. Splash!
Again, no picture to work from, and the only description I got was, "Like Harry Potter, but without the scar." I've never read Harry Potter, either...hope this came out the way he wanted.
I like the way the colors of her dress and the background kind of mesh...very autumn.

Grrr why did the black lines on this get blurred! That takes away from the whole picture! The highlights on the hair are pretty good, though. But she needs more curves south of her waist...
This came out far better than I expected--and far smaller, too! You should see all the white space on the page surrounding it.
What a pretty character, I hope she came out all right.
Ooh this was fun to draw! The pose, the clothes, and the neon yellow background! I was too happy with it to attempt shading, though. It's hard on the computer!

More CG magic, it's easier when the picture is bigger.
Yet another attempt of mine at CGing. This one is pretty okay. I hope Emma looks sad instead of mad. She's awfully pretty. Anyway, this was for a pic exchange on AFO, for Ryn.
She looks pretty! I really, really wish I knew how to put sparkles on her dress and on her transparent sleeves--maybe you could tell those were supposed to be sleeves, then...
I did this original catgirl based on a costume Lander did--and looked damn good in, too! The fur effects were added by Paintshop Pro.

Catfight! MikeMoon's original catgirl character, Nyoka, as a ninja.
Ooooh! I did a CG! Very fun! I think it came out pretty good, how about you?
I just love drawing sexy pink-haired ladies, can't you tell?
I colored this in with color change markers, but then I liked the result so well I didn't dare try the 'magic' marker to change them, lol.

Tucker contacted me to draw his "avatar" for him. What a handsome character, I don't think I did him justice.
So...much...work...I CGed this because I was too lazy to draw trees. Instead I spent FOREVER getting this EXACTLY right (or as close as I can come, anyway ^^) It's my own fault, I've been promising Hime-chan that I was going to draw Eylen for her for some time now.
I asked Mollie if I could draw her character, Em, for her, because I thought she was so pretty! I hope I did her justice!

This is Christi-chan's original character, Sarca. She had never colored the outfit before, so I got to make that all up on my own. I hope she likes it!
I drew this with much help from Hime-chan when we hung out on my birthday. The girl is a shading goddess! (And also Road goddess, if I remember correctly ^.~)
This is the request that broke my slump! Isn't Leiko pretty?

Well, Moonie asked me to draw her character with armor. I suck at designing armor, so I did her *powering up* to armor. It kind of counts, right? I think this is the prettiest pic I've done in a while.
I knew I could do a better job on Leiko now that my slump was over, and someone had just taught me a neat trick with CG, so I decided to give it another go. I think this came out well!
Nadia asked me to draw her two characters with Flo's head on Dan's shoulder. I think her arm is a bit long, but I like the color scheme.
I broke in my new sketchbook with this pic! The scanner turned it so yellow, and the background might be a bit busy, but I like how this came out.

Doing the dresses with prismacolor markers was so fun!
Lindsay chose to be a Sailor Senshi for her prize from my contest, and left the color choices up to me. Together, we came up with Sailor Horizon!
Oooh...this was fun to do. But my scanner doesn't pick up light colors! There is some gray surrounding her on the bottom. Argh...

I had a lot of fun drawing this catgirl! Alex did the shading.
Wow. This request was very specific, very detail oriented--and very fulfilling to draw. I only hope she came out as beautiful as she sounds.
Ooh, this pose came out just the way I wanted it to! But, I couldn't seem to shade it at all.

Kristen had drawn two lovely images for me, so in exchange I drew two girls for her! This was the first girl she described to me.
For this one, all she said was, "Medium length brown hair, down." I hope this suits!
Dominique was wonderful enough to send me many additions to my site in the form of Sailor Mars sprites and YKYPHAAW examples, so I really wanted to thank her with a guest art. What a colorful senshi!
I had asked Elaine to draw something for me, so in return, she asked me to draw her and some of the other Art Chicks. There were three of them, plus me, so I decided to borrow one of Naoko's poses, but use our own favorite fruits.

As I mentioned in the notes for the Ka'rissi pick in Guest Art - Me, Mike Moon and I agreed it's been far too long since we did a pic exchange. This drawing is of one of his catgirl characters, JenJen, involved in one of her favorite hobbies, bellydancing! I learn new things about using the computer to shade every time I CG. The light effect may be a little hokey, but I like it.
Mara had posted a quick sketch of a vixen character on her Facebook, and like the little begger child that I am, I asked her if she'd draw my fox character in her style in exchange for me drawing hers in my style--or at least what passes for a style. I hadn't done an art trade in *forever*. I actually got really inspired one day at work and started sketching this there, but had a little trouble when I tried to duplicate it in my sketchbook at home. I had trouble adapting her character to my style as well; I'm *still* not used to drawing anatomically-correct noses on my fox furries, it still looks weird to me. But I'm pretty proud of the clothes, even though I copied them out of J.C. Crew ads from the 90s. I don't remember why I decided these two should be set in the 90s. It seemed like a good idea at the time.
This is what I drew in Mara's new guest sketchbook at her request--she's got a new original character based on herself that is more or less a shapeshifter (I don't want to give too much away, because it's really her story to tell.) She's asking all of her artist friends to draw her however they see her--in my case, I interpreted that as Mara in "my world". What has influenced me more than Sailor Moon? Hence, Sailor Mara!
