Tristen Citrine as Sailor Venus in a costume she made herself. |
Tristen says:
"It's no secret, I love the Sailor Moon Musicals, especially those campy, old school, first-stage ones. And V-chan... she's just so orange I can't help but love her. I've been doing this Minako thang a lot lately, eh?" |
"This costume was made to be as close to the original S musical fuku as possible. Notable differences are the orange, anime (and Dracule) correct armbands, the lack of cellophane on the sleeves, and I have yet to get real character shoes done in orange." |
"For now, my Light Adventure shoes will have to get me through my upcoming trip to Japan. The fabric was painstakingly color matched to the program books, and extra special care was taken to make sure the trims were right." |
"Along the edges of both pleated skirts are rows of hand-stitched beads and mylar knit trim. The bodice is matte Superstretch because the weight of the completed dress would be too much strain on average Lycra." |
"Both bows are heavy interfaced coated tricot and the brooch is an etched mirror foiled in gold and accented with rhinestones. Venus' planetary symbol is applied in the same way on the choker." |
"A zipper extends from the neckline to down past the tushie. The wig was also colored and styled by me." |
"How did I get the collar to stay up? Hehehehehe... I'm gonna keep that a secret for just a little while :) Don't worry, I won't stay quiet for long!" |
A very beautiful costume, ne? |
Now Tristen is wearing Minako's Light Adventure outfit from the Sera Myu musicals. |
Tristen says:
"This mess of orange satin and yellow slicker vinyl was worn at Animagic 2000, in a performance with Sailor Jamboree. Let me tell you, it may me short and cropped, but woooo it is H-O-T! Still, it was fun dancing and singing my little citrus-y heart out on the poolside stage in my own personal sauna suit. I really wanted to ditch the keyboard and dive in!" |

A closeup of Light Adventure Venus. |
Venus looks wistful... |
...and then strikes a Barbara Eden-esque pose. |

A kneeling Venus. |
Ooh la la! |
I just love the little stars on the shorts. |
