Sisters

A sister's a sister forever,
A bond that diminishes never,
A friend who is kindly and caring,
A sibling God chooses for sharing.

Few ties as deep and profound
And with so much affection abound
Though some thoughts are seldom expressed
Love endures and survives every test.

Of the constants that rest in the heart,
A sister's a primary part.
She'll always be there when you need her-
You listen, you value, you heed her.

As growth, independence you ponder,
Your feelings grow deeper and fonder;
And life tells you one thing thats true:
A sister's a large part of you.

Now today, January 16, 2004, for her 23rd birthday, I would like to present this page to my dear Hime-chan. We might not have shared our whole lives together, but we have shared all of our memories, and I hope we share our futures.

How We Met

Hime-chan's website, dedicated to Chibiusa. We met because I was looking for places to submit my fanart of Chibiusa. She had the only page that had a grown-up Chibiusa as the layout pic, which is what I had drawn most at that point.
Crissy's website. Hime-chan helped me think of the name, and as you can see, we were sister sites from the start. And I used a grown-up Chibiusa in my layout pic, too.

Our Pasts

Chibi Elisse! She still has that same cute crooked smile.
Chibi Crissy! She still has that same, "I'm thinking of selling your soul to the devil" smile.
Elisse had a hamster named Chip!
Crissy had a hamster named Chip!
Hime-chan's prom. We both had dark blue dresses!
Crissy's prom. We both had blond dates!
Hime-chan's senior portrait. I think she looks very sweet here.
Crissy's senior portrait. I think I look horribly fake.
The first photo Hime-chan ever sent Crissy of herself. (Actually, she tried to send me a little gif of some green haired anime character, but I bugged her until she sent a real photo.)

Our Shared Interests

Hime-chan's obsession, Miroku from Inu Yasha. She would like to bear his children.
Crissy's obsession, Terry Bogard from Fatal Fury. She would like to date him and not die.
Hime-chan's kitten, Hermione.
Crissy's kitten, Kira. Don't they look a little alike?

Our Visits

April of 2002, the very first time Crissy and Hime-chan met. Hime-chan and her friend Kellie came to NYC for the joint purpose of going to iCon and to meet me. Sadly I was also in a show that weekend, so between that and the con, we didn't have as much time to hang out together as we would've liked.
October of 2002, Hime-chan drove to Pennsylvania for Crissy's 22nd birthday. This time we finally got to do all the things we wanted to do--draw together, watch Card Captor Sakura together, and stay up late at night whispering together. Then Hime-chan almost didn't make it home because that was around the time of that D.C. sniper and they closed down I-95...

We actually got to hang out again September of 2003, but I'm an idiot and I didn't take any pictures. Hime-chan got some pictures of the city, but due to the fact I was working at my first full time job (and horrendous hours, at that) we forgot to take any of ourselves together.

We also got to have a nice dinner with each other and some friends of mine at Otakon 2004, but since we had just taken pictures all damn day, we didn't think to pose in the restaurant.

Finally finding Hime-chan at Otakon 2006! I had spent most of Friday night looking for her! We didn't have a lot of time to hang out, because she had an artist's table to man, and I had various cosplay committments, but I did pick up a copy of her source book!
At Otakon again! This year we had more time to sit and grab lunch together and generally catch up.
Back to Grandpa's house in Pennsylvania again for Crissy's 27 birthday! This year we went all out and had an Elegant Gothic Lolita Tea Party.
My first trip to Katsucon! We actually got to hang out a lot that weekend--and that's Hime-chan wearing one of my Gothic Lolita dresses!
And now, back to Otakon. I'm telling you, getting to see Hime-chan while I'm down there is definitely one of my main reasons for going. ^.^
My wedding, July 12, 2009. I couldn't get married without my Hime-chan there! Here my baby niece is enthralled with Hime-chan's bindi beads.
Otakon again! I wish you could see Hime-chan's left hand, as this was the first time I got to see her after she got engaged! It will be my turn to go to her wedding in March of 2011!
We actually got to see each other TWICE in 2011--a banner year! First, I traveled down to Washington, D.C. (my furthest road trip at that point!) to watch her marry her prince. She planned a Steampunk wedding, and EVERYONE, from the grandparents to the minister, complied, so here's me in the one and only Steampunk outfit I'll probably ever wear, with my beautiful princess on her wedding day.
AND THEN, not only did we get to hang out together at Otakon later that summer, but we also finally, finally, finally, got to cosplay Rei and Chibiusa together! I tell you, if I had to retire from cosplay this year, that would have been a good note to go out on.
Cosplay with Hime-chan got even better, when we got to cosplay the princess versions of our repsective signature characters together. My grown-up Small Lady. <3

Our Differences

And most important...

Hime-chan has a nugget:

And out of all of the most beautiful things Hime-chan has ever made, he is the most beautiful of all.
