I've mentioned elsewhere that Rogue is one of my "Holy Trinity" of characters, the ones I love/relate to the most/longest. As such, it's in the back of my mind that I would love to do all of her costumes someday. The likelihood of that happening lessens every year (particularly as I age out of "Savage Land"), but it's still a goal.

I'm not sure exactly when the inspiration for this particular version struck. I know Pete bought himself a wearable Magneto helm in the summer of 2023, and wondered how easily he could throw a Magneto costume together. I promised him that if he did, I'd wear SOME version of Rogue with him. Then in spring of 2024, X-Men '97 was released. That was enough. Since I was planning on cosplaying with Pete, I went and looked up some Rogue x Magneto pictures, and found the cover to Legacy 232, and was immediately impressed: that fabric looked a hell of a lot thicker than spandex. I could work with that.

Setsuna Kou had done such an amazing job on my original Rogue costume that I had to ask her if she'd make me my next one. We discussed fabric choices quite a bit, but eventually settled on Football Pants Spandex-Heavy weight in Hunter Green from Spandex World, but with the reverse side of the fabric showing so that it was slightly less shiny (but still had some sheen.) I love that she made the zipper functional (I may unzip it a bit to take the matching reference photo some day, but I wasn't about to walk around the Javits Center like that!) AND the two pouches functional so I had someplace to put my stuff. The boots being flat meant my feet were a lot more comfortable, too. Lastly, I bought a pretty cheap wig from Amazon and some green hair ties, and trimmed the white layers framing her face myself. It may not be the quintessential Rogue, but I like it quite a lot and look forward to wearing it again. Maybe Pete will actually get his Magneto costume and we can wear them together, who knows?
